The 7th Managing Committee Meeting of Blue Peace in the Middle East: Regional Mechanism (BPME-RM) was held on 29-30 November 2022 in Mardin, Turkiye.
The meeting, organized by the Coordination Office (SUEN) in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), was attended by senior representatives from member countries Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Türkiye as well as officials from SDC and INWRDAM (Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management). Below matters were discussed in the scope of the meeting:
- Future thematic activities to be implemented (in the 2023-2026 period) as part of the designated umbrella theme, Water-Energy-Food-Ecology (WEFE) Nexus
- The Rules of Governance of BPME-RM
- Selection of new members in the Managing and Policy Advisory Committees
- The international water events to be participated in
A field trip was also organized to the Ilısu Dam and HEPP, completed in the year of 2021 as part of the South Eastern Anatolian Development (GAP) project.
