The 6th Managing Committee Meeting of Blue Peace in the Middle East: Regional Mechanism (BPME-RM) was held on 21-22 June 2022 in Istanbul.
The meeting, organized by the Coordination Office (SUEN) in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), was attended by senior representatives from member countries Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Türkiye as well as officials from SDC.
Below matters were discussed in the meeting:
- Selection of the new vision and mission statements of BPME
- Elaboration of the ToRs related to the bodies under the BPME-RM structure
- Future thematic activities to be implemented as part of the designated umbrella theme; Water-Energy-Food-Ecology (WEFE) Nexus
At the last session of the meeting, Ms. Maysoon Zoubi from Jordan was selected, by a majority vote, as the new Chair of MC starting from 1st of January 2023 for a period of 2 years. Ms. Zoubi will succeed Dr. Bulent İnanç from Türkiye who was selected in January 2020.
